Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
We offer personalized pet care including dog walks, extended daytime care, enrichment outings, drop-in visits, overnight care in your space, and limited boarding with us. Every booking is tailored to your pet’s routine, energy level, and comfort.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, we’re always open to taking on new clients. Availability depends on the season and our existing schedule, but we’re happy to explore what might work.
We strongly prefer that new clients begin with our pet intake form, as it gives us the information we need to care for your pet safely and thoughtfully. If you’re unsure or have questions first, you’re welcome to email, text, or call.
Do you require a meet and greet?
No. Meet and greets are optional. Some clients prefer them, others don’t. We’re comfortable starting care without one as long as we have a completed intake form and clear instructions.
Why is the pet intake form important?
The intake form helps us understand your pet’s routine, personality, medical needs, emergency contacts, and veterinarian information. In the event of an emergency or unexpected situation, having this information on file allows us to act quickly and responsibly.
Where do you operate?
We’re based in South Lake Tahoe and primarily serve the surrounding area. If you’re unsure whether your location falls within our service range, just ask.
What types of pets do you care for?
We care for dogs and cats, as well as small animals and exotics including rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, reptiles, birds, and more. If your pet has specific or uncommon care needs, let us know and we’ll confirm whether we’re a good fit. We bet we are. ;)
Can you give my pet medication?
Yes. We’re very experienced with oral medications, eye drops, topical treatments, and injections. Clear instructions must be provided in advance.
How do I book a service?
The best place to start is our pet intake form. Once it’s submitted, we’ll follow up with availability, pricing, and next steps.
What’s the best way to contact you?
Email is the best way to reach us. We’re also available by phone and text if needed. For new clients, the intake form is always a great place to start.
How far in advance should I reach out?
Earlier is always better, especially during peak travel and ski season. That said, we’re happy to check availability for short-notice requests whenever possible.
Are you flexible on services?
Yes. We’re happy to customize care whenever possible based on your pet’s needs, schedule, and comfort.
That said, all services are subject to availability, safety considerations, and our existing bookings. We’ll always do our best to find a solution that works well for both you and your pet.
Do you offer last-minute or same-day bookings?
Sometimes. Availability depends on our current schedule and location. We’re always happy to check whenever possible, though advance notice is strongly recommended, especially during peak travel and ski season. Last-minute requests may be subject to additional fees.
How many pets do you care for at one time?
We intentionally keep our schedule small so we can give each pet plenty of attention, calm care, and one-on-one time. Limiting our bookings helps us stay present, flexible, and truly focused on your pet’s comfort and safety.
Do you care for reactive or special-needs pets?
Yes, in many cases. We have experience with senior pets, anxious pups, reactive dogs, and pets with special medical or behavioral needs. We ask that everything be shared with us in advance so we can prepare thoughtfully.
Can you handle large or strong dogs?
Absolutely. We love big, strong bubbas. We’re experienced with dogs of all sizes and breeds and are comfortable handling energetic and powerful pups. Just let us know about any pulling, reactivity, or handling concerns on your intake form.
Can my pet sleep in the bed / on furniture?
Of course. We’re happy to follow your household rules and your pet’s usual routine whenever possible. Whether they’re a bed-snuggler, a couch lounger, or a crate sleeper, just let us know what they’re used to so we can help them feel right at home.
Will I receive updates?
Yes. We love sending photos and updates while you’re away. As pet owners ourselves, we know how comforting it is to see your pet happy and relaxed. You can always expect little check-ins to let you know how things are going.
Why should I choose Tahoe Cuties?
Because we’re real people who genuinely love what we do.
We’re JB and Leah, a husband and wife team who absolutely adore animals and take a lot of pride in caring for them well. We believe great pet care comes from connection, consistency, and truly paying attention to each pet’s personality, routine, and comfort.
We keep things personal, calm, and thoughtful. We love getting to know your pets, making sure they’re happy and relaxed, and giving you real peace of mind while you’re away.
To us, this isn’t just a job. It’s something we care deeply about and your pets become part of our little extended family while they’re with us.
